Pro-Russian Hackers Attack Critical Infrastructure in Norway
Norway has formally accused pro-Russian hackers of breaching a dam in Bremanger, an attack Oslo describes as part of a broader hybrid warfare strategy. The country’s security service, PST, confirmed that attackers remotely controlled a floodgate for four hours , viewing it as a deliberate act to demonstrate capability and instill fear. This incident is part of an escalating campaign of Russian cyber threats against Western critical infrastructure. The attack highlights the severe vulnerabilities present when operational technology is connected to external networks, underscoring the critical importance of integrating Secure Data Diodes between these systems to prevent attackers from ever reaching them.
