Audio Diodes Certified to Common Criteria Protection Profile 4.0

The FA10A-4 and the FA10A0-4 Audio Diodes are now certified to Common Criteria against NIAP Protection Profile 4.0 for PSD and will appear on the NIAP Product Compliant List (PCL) in the coming days. The audio diodes are indispensable for protecting meeting rooms and offices where computer speakers are used to play audio and can be repurposed by attackers to eavesdrop and exfiltrate information.

Key features:
  • Unidirectional audio flow prevents repurposing speakers as microphones
  • Low pass filter blocks information leakage via high frequency transmissions
  • Speaker on/off control button (FA10A-4) provides an additional layer of protection

These Audio Diode are fully compatible with HSL’s peripheral sharing product families.

Zero Day Vulnerability Found in Disabled Internet Explorer Applications

Trend Micro’s Zero Day Initiative found a vulnerability that the advanced persistent threat (APT) group “Void Banshee” had been using to execute files through the disabled Internet Explorer (IE) using MSHTML. Even though IE is disabled, having been replaced by Edge, it still exists in a disabled state on user computers and can be exploited to infect vulnerable machines with malicious applications like the Atlantida info-stealer favored by the APT group.
This underscores the importance of truly enforcing an air gap between networks, including through KVM switching devices that share peripherals across both “red” and “black” networks.
