The Risks of Videobars in Secure Environments

Standard videobars can be a major point of vulnerability, especially in a secure meeting room. While the need for videoconferencing is greater than ever, these devices are vulnerable to multiple attack vectors that malicious actors can exploit. Wireless interfaces like Bluetooth and WiFi provide direct pathways for hackers to inject code or leak sensitive data from confidential meetings, and audio equipment can be repurposed to send high-frequency signals to external listening devices. Internal, battery-backed videobar memory can be used by malicious actors to store sensitive data for later extraction.

Complete Hardware-Enforced Security

The Secure Videobar Diode eliminates these threats by creating a hardware-enforced unidirectional data flow, making reverse communication physically impossible, preventing the transfer of data between computer sources. Its sophisticated device emulation blocks direct connection between peripherals and host systems, while camera, microphone, and speaker channels are filtered separately for maximum protection.

The internal audio diode prevents data leaks through audio channels by converting digital signals to analog and employing a low-pass filter restricting audio to the range of human hearing, keeping hackers from sending inaudible high-frequency signals to external hacking devices. The unidirectional audio data flow prevents repurposing speakers as microphones. The video diode enforces unidirectional traffic while eliminating any possible cross talk between channels using special electronic circuitry.
