HSL Develop and manufacture a set of special cables for its Secure KVM products. Cables are critical part of the Secure KVM system. Product security evaluation and testing is done with the approved set of cables to assure signal integrity and radiated emissions level.

  Customers considering using other cables should be aware that:

• HSL cables are made of best materials and specifically designed to interface and work with its Secure KVM products. HSL can’t guaranty proper signal quality and operation with other cables.

• Cables are part of the security evaluation. Using other cables will void security certification.

• Unapproved cables may damage the Secure KVM product and will void the warranty.

• HSL Cables are designed for lowest emitted and conducted radiations.

The following table provides the required cabling part numbers for each HSL Secure KVM product. The required cabling for the KM products appears in the next smaller table.

Notes:

• All Secure KVM products do not convert video signal type. If DVI-D display is connected then all host inputs must be DVI-D as well. If VGA display is connected than all host inputs must be VGA.

• Most of HSL products support PS/2 keyboard and mouse. Note that PS/2 hosts are not supported (KVM converts PS/2 peripherals into USB).

• SmartCables are microcontroller based video adapters used to convert video and peripheral signals from one protocol to another one. The use of SmartCables to convert video signals should be minimized due to the higher cost and the possible video quality impact. If you consider using DVI video in the Secure KVM it is better to install DVI video card in the computer (if possible) and avoid the use of SmartCables. Smart cables are marked in this matrix in red.

• Cables longer than 1.8m are available for special orders (minimum volume and availability may change).

• Secure KM switches K304 and K304E does not support video - displays are connected directly to host computers.
